Why we love The Ultimate Seasonal Lunchbox: Autumn by Audrey Shaerrer

This wonderful family cookbook focuses on fresh, easy-to-find ingredients and simple recipes that take only a little time to prepare while making a big difference to your child's day. Find out why we love it...

There are recipes from all over the world With dishes from France, Japan, Spain, Greece, Italy, China and Mexico, there's plenty of variety to suit all tastes and keep each lunchtime interesting.

The ingredients are easy to find You won't have to waste time – or money – tracking down elusive, exotic or expensive items.

It's suitable for the entire family I've been making extra portions and adding them to my own lunchbox!

It's not just for lunch The baked items like muffins and scones double as breakfasts, while the biscuits, flapjacks and sweet potato chips can be eaten as snacks any time. Some of the recipes, such as the frittatas, omelettes and savoury tarts, also make fantastic suppers.

It's eco-orientated and uses seasonal ingredients If you're trying to reduce your carbon footprint, this is perfect.

The whole family can cook together My kids are always more likely to eat something that they've helped to prepare. These uncomplicated dishes with minimal effort allow family members of all ages and abilities to collaborate with the chef!

It saves you so much time This takes the thinking out of lunch – which can be half the battle.

It's freezer-friendly

Lots of the recipes can be made ahead in bulk and frozen.

There's plenty to learn There are facts about different foods and their origins, as well as the history of the regions they come from.

It's very practical This even includes time-saving tips and handy how-to guides for cutting different fruits and assembling rice rolls.

We've been making our way through the recipes and enjoying everything that we've tried. Stand-out favourites so far have been the super club sandwiches, courgette cakes, Provençal lunch, leek and ricotta tarts, Tuscan frollini biscuits and the flapjacks. The addition of ginger to the flapjacks was something I had never tasted before and gives them a lovely and unexpected kick. Next on my list are the chickpea and sweet potato patties, carrot and halloumi balls, and the banana and date loaf, as well as the chilli con carne muffins which sound like a unique and unforgettable feast!

An indispensable source of different and delicious daily lunch box inspiration, The Ultimate Seasonal Lunchbox book is a must-have for all families.
