Paper Lanterns Teen and YA Literary Journal

From July to October, I joined Paper Lanterns as an intern and was involved in all aspects of the production and promotion of issue six. This was an amazing experience and I enjoyed it so much. The team behind Paper Lanterns is amazing and incredibly passionate about what they do.

Paper Lanterns is the only Irish journal publishing work for, and by, teens and young adults.

They accept international submissions from everyone aged 13 and over (including adults). Creative writing submissions open at selected times while art, photography and features are accepted all year. See paperlanternslit.com/submissions for more information.

Issue six is out now and available from paperlanternslit.com as well as selected bookshops throughout Ireland. It includes the winners of the Paper Lanterns and Tertulia Books 2021 short story competition and an interview with Meg Grehan. Sue Divin discusses the inspiration behind Guard Your Heart while teen writer Sinéad O’Reilly explores the power of poetry in a pandemic. There's also lots of original writing and brilliant reviews from a wide variety of age groups and perspectives. If you're looking for a gift for a bookish teenager or young adult, but don't know what they've read, Paper Lanterns is ideal. As well as individual and back issues, subscriptions can be purchased and make excellent presents too. Issue seven is out in November and I'm very excited about contributing a feature to it as part of a new series – will share more details soon. Follow Paper Lanterns on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram to make sure you don't miss any news, special offers or giveaways.
